Many RDP new sales are a direct result of referrals. We greatly appreciate this business and have developed a referral program. RDP pays a 10% “finder’s fee” for any referral that turns into a sale directly to the person who makes the referral. Client-Server referrals are calculated based on the software purchase price, and do not include training or support contracts. For example, if a customer pays $40,000 for software, $5,000 for training and $6,000/year for technical support, the referral amount would be $40,000 x .10 = $4,000. Referrals are paid on a cash basis after installation of the system. For example, if there is a $40,000 sale paid as a $10,000 deposit and $30,000 after installation, the $4,000 referral fee is paid after installation, not on deposit.
For hosted customers the referral amount is calculated by taking 10% of the total of 36 monthly payments. For example, if a customer has a hosted fee of $1000/month, the referral amount would be $1,000 x 36 x .10 = $3,600. Referral fees are paid as the customer once per year. In the example above, RDP would receive $12,000/year from the customer and would then pay $1,200 as a referral for the first three years.
Please note the difference between a “referral” and a “reference.” To be a 10% referral, the prospect must be a new property that RDP is not already working with. A reference occurs when a prospect that RDP is already working on talks with one or more existing customers about the system. This prospect may call five or more RDP customers to gather information. In these cases, your help is critical and greatly appreciated, but it is impossible to pay a 10% commission to each reference.
