RDP supports in-room check-out through the LodgeNet, ONCOMMAND, and nSTREAMS movie interfaces. With the Enhanced Movie interface installed, guests view their folio on the television screen and check out with RDP. If the Southern DataComm interface is installed, a credit card payment is automatically processed. The interface also turns movies on at check-in and off at check-out, helping to prevent unauthorized access. The following features are included with RDP's Enhanced Movie Interface:

With the Enhanced Movie Interface installed, guests can view folio transactions on their television and check out of the RDP system. Guests with a valid credit card on file can process their own check-outs through the movie system without going to the front desk. Once the guest is checked out through the Enhanced Movie Interface, RDP's availability is immediately updated, and the room is marked "dirty and vacant" for the housekeeping department.
LodgeNet, ONCOMMAND, and nSTREAMS provide a variety of in-room services. For example, guests have the ability to purchase movies, play video games, and view exercise videos. All three of these services are posted as unique charges to the RDP folio. In order to track revenues, separate daily, month-to-date, and year-to-date totals are processed for each in-room service.
The Enhanced Movie Interface processes check-in and check-out messages to the in-room movie system. When a guest checks in, an automatic message is relayed to the movie system activating services in the room. When the guest checks out, movies are automatically deactivated in the room, preventing unauthorized access.
With the RDP Southern DataComm Interface installed, guest credit card payments are automatically processed as part of an express in-room check-out. The payment is reflected on the RDP folio and can be easily tracked as originating from the interface.
Properties that do not utilize the Southern DataComm Interface, manually process express in-room check-out credit card payments from the front desk. Through built-in tracking mechanisms, reports are printed for front desk clerks to alert them of in-room check-outs.
Credit
card security for our customers is just one step in Payment Card Industry (PCI)
Compliance. Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance is different for every RDP customer
based on the volume of credit card transactions. There are many PCI
compliance requirements that must be satisfied which have nothing to do with
the RDP system. Every RDP customer must carefully examine the full
Visa Compliance Validation requirements.
Resort Data Processing (RDP) offers four levels of credit card security
available to RDP customers. Only Levels 3 and 4 are PCI compliant,
because they include data encryption and deletion of old credit card
information. RDP strongly recommends that all customers use Level 3 or 4
which require that RDPWin (not RDP-DOS) be used for making and changing
reservations, taking payments, checking-in and checking-out reservations,
etc.
It is the responsibility of each
customer to assure full PCI compliance. RDP is NOT
LIABLE for damages or fines related to any level of credit card
security, including Levels 1-4. RDP offers no
assistance, guarantees, or advice regarding PCI compliance, and cannot be
held liable for any damages resulting from customer failure to comply with
full PCI compliance standards.
In addition to adding functionality to the Enhanced Movie Interface, RDP has also created the Enhanced Movie Interface with a windows "look and feel." The interface takes advantage of standard Windows drop-down menus, radio buttons, and configuration menus in order to simplify day-to-day use. A sample interface configuration windows is displayed below.

Through the Enhanced Movie Interface's Windows interface, property employees can easily transmit interface logs to RDP Support through electronic mail. The feature is standard with the Enhanced Movie Interface and can be activated with just a few mouse clicks!
The Enhanced Movie Interface includes a full online Help system. The Help system includes installation information, configuration options, and troubleshooting tips. Standard RDP updates include updated Help files.

Customers utilizing the current RDP In-Room Movie Interface already have a networked bridge workstation communicating with the movie system. However, this workstation may also be posting phone calls from the call accounting system or interfacing with the property's phone switch in order to activate guest telephones and process housekeeping messages.
The workstation running the Enhanced Movie Interface must meet be dedicated to this function and also meet the following requirements:
Please note that in order to run the Enhanced Movie Interface, Pervasive.SQL
2000i or Pervasive.SQL V9.52 or higher (with all service packs) must be installed on both the fileserver and each RDP workstation.
